It was the mid-1970s that over in the US a revolution was in the making: a young electrical engineer was finishing the prototype of a new type of camera. Steven Sasson's first photo on the toaster-size electronic camera he built at Kodak's headquarters in New York has been massaged by public relations into the kind of legend that surrounds the world's first telephone call.
