Elvis Aaron Presley was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in Tupelo, Mississippi on jan 8 1935. Elvis Presley musical influences were the pop and country music of the time, the gospel music he heard in the church and at the all night gospel sings he frequently attended, and the black R&B he absorbed on historic Beale Street as a memphis teenager
In 1954 he began his singing career with the legendry sun records label in Memphis. By 1956 he was an international music sensation. With a sound and style that uniquely combined his diverse musical influences challenged the social and racial barriers of the time and ushered into thewhole new era of American music and popular culture
Achievements
Elvis starred in 33 successful films. globally he has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist. His sales has earned him gold, platinum and multiplatinum awards for 131 different albums. It is estimated that 40% of the Elvis total records sale was outside America. He has 149 songs to appear on Billboard's 100 pop chart in America of which 114 were in top 40, forty were in top 10 and 18 tops the chart
Among many of Elvis Presley's prized cars was his Stutz Blackhawk's. Elvis was the first in America to own a Stutz, and probably his favouite car of the '70s was his 1973 Stutz Blackhawk III.
His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma and good humor endeared him to millions, as didi the humility and human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. He is regarded as one of the most important figure of the twentieth century popular culture. Elvis died at Memphis home, Graceland on aug 16 1977
